NIAGARA
Mini Hydro Power Plant
1.70 MW
The Niagara Mini Hydro Power Plant (MHPP) is a strategic asset managed by PT Nusantara Indah Energindo. Located in Rantau Nipis Village, Banding Agung District, South Ogan Komering Ulu Regency, this plant utilizes the potential of the Niagara River in South Sumatra Province. Logistically, this location is approximately 266 km from Raden Inten II Airport in Bandar Lampung, with a land travel time of approximately 6 hours and 2 minutes.
Technically, the Niagara MHPP has a total capacity of 1.70 MW, generated by two generator units with a capacity of 850 kW each. This system relies on a 10-meter head with a water flow rate of 30 m³/s. The plant's main components utilize horizontal Kaplan turbine technology combined with a horizontal synchronous generator, supported by a 50-meter-long, 2.0-meter-diameter penstock to efficiently channel hydropower.
Operationally, this power plant entered its commercial operation date (COD) since July 7, 2015, with a 15-year cooperation contract. The presence of the Niagara MHPP is a clear demonstration of the private sector's contribution to strengthening regional energy security through the utilization of environmentally friendly renewable energy resources.
